Oh, what a cabin! Just a short five minute drive from the main road to the top of the mountain, you’ll find this beauty in a private location with expansive, 180 degree views of untouched Rich Mountain Wilderness and the Chattahoochee National Forest land. As you come up the driveway you immediately see the expansive views and know you’re going to enjoy this place. Completely rebuilt in 2014 after a tragic fire, the cabin was torn down and the new “Above the Clouds” cabin rose from the ashes. We like to think its better than it was before, but we have fond memories of our old cabin.
Main Back Porch and Deck
The screened back porch and decks give you access to those majestic views. The views are both “in your face” and layered, long range views. There is a view of the valley below as well. There are approximately 1750 square feet of porches and deck space at the cabin. The back deck is the length of the cabin plus some and is completely screened in and wraps around the corner of the cabin. From the dining area, you can open the French doors on the screened porch and have a seat at the picnic table. The porch is also accessible from the master bedroom and the great room. There are plenty of rockers on the porch and comfortable outdoor furniture as well. The outer deck is the width of the cabin and some. The porch has two screened doors out to the outer deck. The outer deck sports Adirondack rockers and a very large stainless steel, enough to cook lots of your favorite foods. The outer deck allows you to go down to the lower level or the drive and has a gate at the top of the stairs to keep your best friend (dog at least) contained.
The lower deck is off the lower level. The deck spans the underpart of the upper deck and houses a five person hot tub, a swing built for two and a few rustic rockers. You can walk off the lower level deck to the picnic and firepit area. The lower deck has two gates to keep “man’s best friend” on the deck with you while you enjoy the hot tub.
The upper porch is off the upstairs back bedroom. It is a private, screened porch accessible through french doors off the bedroom. It’s pretty large, has a vaulted roof with a ceiling fan and a few rockers to sit back and enjoy the view or read a book. The view from this deck is killer, you’re higher up than the other porches and can really see more.
